Programs to deliver The Living Murray

The Living Murray first step is being achieved through large investments in rural communities. Implementation is through the following programs:

Water Recovery

Water recovery projects address over-allocation of water resources in certain parts of the River Murray system and reclaim water for delivery to The Living Murray icon sites.

Environmental Delivery

Once water is recovered, it is delivered through The Living Murray program in a way that achieves ecological results at the icon sites.

Environmental Monitoring

The Environmental Monitoring Program monitors the environmental status of The Living Murray icon sites. It provides information both to assess the success of The Living Murray objectives and to adaptively manage environmental water delivery.

Environmental Works and Measures

Through infrastructure-based projects, this program aims to make the best possible use of water currently in the River Murray system and optimise the benefits of environmental water recovered through The Living Murray.

Communication and Community Consultation

Many Australians have an interest in the River Murray. This area of The Living Murray program aims to ensure that local communities, stakeholders and the general public are able to receive information and offer their input into various plans.
